3.5% increase in Mayo house prices over past 12 months, according to latest REA survey

The average price for a 3-bedroom semi-detached house in Co Mayo currently stands at 148,000 euro – that’s a 3.5% increase on this time last year according to the REA average house price study for the third quarter of 2017.

The study by Real Estate Alliance shows that average house prices across the country have risen by over 11% over the past 12 months.

Dublin city prices show a 4% increase, with a three-bed semi averaging 431,500 while Longford is the cheapest place to buy a house, with average prices of 90,000.

Mayo saw a 3.5 % increase in house prices over the past year, with a 6.7% increase in Roscommon where prices average 120,000.

Galway city saw a 4% increase with prices averaging 255,000 while Co Galway saw an increase of almost 6% in house prices year on year, with prices now averaging 145,000 euro.

Supply is the main driver of continuing price rises, according to an REA spokeperson, with agents reporting that the volume of listings is down around the country.
