Over 1700 students across Co Mayo will receive their Junior Cert results later today.
Across the country, results will be in schools today for over 61 and a half thousand candidates, and students can access their results online at www.examinations.ie from 4 pm this afternoon.
The overall number sitting the Junior Certificate rose by 2.3 per cent this year.
Much of the focus today will be on the English results, as this was the first year of the reformed Junior Cycle syllabus – and will combine exam results with assessment marks.
This year is also the first time students will receive a Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement.
The profile records both their exam grades, the outcome of other assessments during the Junior Cycle, and other achievements - in non curricular activities like sport, debating or community projects.
Education Minister Richard Bruton is congratulating the thousands of students who receive their results today, and says it’s a proud moment for the students, their parents and teachers, as the results reflect the work and dedication that have gone into preparing for exams.
