Joe Biden in Castlebar today to turn the sod on the new Mayo Hospice Unit

Former US Vice-President Joe Biden will be in Castlebar this afternoon to turn the sod on the new Mayo Hospice Unit.
Following years of planning, design and fundraising, it’s hoped work will get underway in the coming months on the new unit which is being built by the Mayo / Roscommon Hospice.
A massive security operation was in place when Mr. Biden visited Mayo last year with family members, on a special trip to trace their ancestry.
He’s now returning in a private capacity, and has agreed to turn the sod on the 14-bed hospice unit at Knockaphunta, Castlebar.
