Three people have been killed following a road collision in Mayo.
Two women aged in their 70's and 40's and a 7 year old boy - died after the car they were traveling in collided with an articulated truck on the N17 Galway to Sligo Road at Claremorris near Meelickmore just after midday.
It is understood the car in which they were travelling was turning onto the road at a junction from Claremorris when the incident occurred.
The three occupants; a seven-year-old boy, a woman in her 40s and another woman in her 70s were killed instantly.
The driver of the truck was not injured but is said to be in a state of shock.
The road was closed for a forensic examination for some time but has since fully reopened to traffic.

Elsewhere in Cork, two tourists from the US died in a three vehicle crash on the Mallow Road at around 11 o'clock this morning.
The man and woman were both in their 60's and were travelling with their partners.
A number of other people have been injured and are being treated in hospital.
