Hardware and discount stores to be targetted in new campaign by Health & Safety Authority

Inspectors from the Health & Safety Authority will target hardware and discount stores to ensure their products don’t contain any banned chemicals, and are safe to use.

Inspectors will check for the presence of banned chemicals in cleaning and laundry products, air fresheners and reed diffusers, paint products such as thinners as well as glues and jewellery.

The packing of these products will also be checked to ensure child-resistant fastenings and warnings of danger are included where required.

Yvonne Mullooly is programme manager with the Health & Safety Authority – she told Midwest News that discount stores and hardware stores are being targeted in this campaign…..
