The new Papal Nuncio to Ireland will make his first public appearance in this country at Knock Shrine this weekend.
Nigerian Archbishop Jude Okolo was appointed to the position in May by Pope Francis, and the Papal Nuncio will be in Knock on Sunday to take part in the National Grandparents Pilgrimage.
The annual event attracts thousands of grandparents from all over Ireland, with Anointing of the Sick at 2.30 on Sunday, while Mass gets underway in the Basilica at 3pm.
Ahead of Sunday’s pilgrimage, the National Grandparents Association is looking for the oldest grandparents who will be attending to make contact with them, as well as the longest-married couple in the region.
Their Westport office can be contacted at 098 24877.
