Irish Water explains discolouration of water in some homes in the Ballinlough/ Cloonfad areas
- Details

Irish Water has responded to complaints about the discolouration of the water supply to some homes in the Cloonfad / Ballinlough area.
The public water supply in the area is subject to an ongoing boil water notice.
However, in recent days, some householders complained of the dirty colour of the water coming from taps.
In an update, Irish Water explained that they were using two bore holes to supply water to this area, but they have now reverted back to the main supply.
The bad weather would have affected the supplementary supply, which may cause the water to be brown in colour.
The statement adds that the caretakers has been flushing the lines in the area over the past week, and this will improve the water quality.
Irish Water notes that the Ballinlough area is on a boil alert, but will have a new supply of water by Christmas, due to the extension of the Lough Mask scheme from Ballyhaunis.
