Ulster Bank to close Ballyhaunis and Ballymote branches from tomorrow

A number of Ulster Bank branches around the country are closing tomorrow (Friday).

Ballyhaunis and Ballymote are among the branches that will close their doors to customers for a final time tomorrow evening.

The ATM machines at both branches are being left in place for the moment, and a mobile Ulster Bank service will be made available in both towns.

The mobile bank will be provided in Ballymote on Mondays, starting from 25th September

However, Ulster Bank have yet to confirm details of the mobile bank service planned for Ballyhaunis.

This follows the closure in recent years of the AIB branch in Ballyhaunis, while the local Bank of Ireland branch has recently reduced its cash services.

Mayo Fianna Fail TD Dara Calleary says these decisions are having a huge impact on personal and business customers, but he says the Government should now intervene to give powers and resources to the Post office and Credit Union network to provide cash services.
