The wait is finally over for almost 58-thousand Leaving Certificate students who receive their results today.
The overall number sitting the test was down slightly this year and ten students came out with eight A1's each.
Higher level maths and science have brought disappointing results, as the number of students taking the higher option continues to decline.
Education Minister Ruairi Quinn agrees a reform of the points system is needed - and says a helping hand for those taking on higher level maths is to be introduced.
