Three people were taken by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital this morning following a collision between a number of vehicles at Islandeady, on the N5 Castlebar to Westport road.

The crash occurred shortly after 10am this morning, involving three motorcycles and a car.

Gardai have confirmed to Midwest News that the three motorcyclists were taken by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar, while the female driver of the car was uninjured.

Emergency services and Gardai attended the scene of the collision, and the N5 Castlebar to Westport road remains closed.

Diversions are in place via Newport.

It’s understood those injured in the pileup are members of a motorcycle group visiting from continental Europe.
