Two Mayo stores are named among the Top 100 Stores in Ireland, as part of the Retail Excellence Awards.

Eddie Egan Jewellers on Ellison Street, Castlebar and O’Connors Supervalu in Westport are among the finalists.

There are also 5 Galway stores listed in the Top 100 – including Evergreen Healthfoods at the Eyre Square Shopping Centre, Fields Jewellers on Shop Street, Park Jewellers at the Corrib Shopping centre, Portwest on High Street in Galway and Joyces Supermarket in Headford, with one Sligo store listed – Gerry McGuires on Grattan Street.

The awards were set up in 1997 to promote best practice and encourage high standards in the Irish retail industry, and are the largest of their kind in Ireland.

There were almost 700 entries nationwide this year, and this has now been whittled down to the Top 100 finalists.

The Top 30 stores will be announced on 22^nd September, before the top 3 finalists emerge.

The Retail Excellence awards will take place on 11^th November in Killarney.
