A Memorial service for missing Breaffy footballer David Gavin will take place in Castlebar tomorrow.

This afternoon Breaffy GAA Clubhouse will be open from 4 to 8pm so people can meet with the Gavin family and offer their sympathies.

David Gavin, of Moneen, Bradagh, Castlebar has not been found since he got into difficulty in a Canadian river on June 30th last.

Despite an extensive search since, no trace of the 26 year old has been discovered.

The underwater part of the search was called off last week, but there are hopes that it will resume in the coming weeks.

At present the search is restricted to air and boat patrols.

David’s parents Michael and Angela, sister Aoife and his girlfriend Ciara , family members and friends have been in Canada at the search area for weeks but have now returned home.

Tomorrow (Wed) at 11am there will b e a memorial Mass for David in the Church of the Holy Rosary Castlebar.

The search efforts in Canada are continuing.

A huge fundraising campaign in Ireland and in Canada , has seen hundreds of thousandS of euros raised to help in the search.
