Leo Varadkar will make his first official visit to Mayo as Taoiseach today.

Mr. Varadkar is expected to arrive at the Great National Hotel Ballina at 5pm for Ballina Lions Club “Message in a bottle” launch.

The Taoiseach will then meet with St. Muredach’s Formula One team competing in the World Championships in Kuala Lumpur in September.

He will then meet Tony Hennigan who is the organiser of the Mayo Manchester Tradfest where the first night’s gala concert proceeds this year are going to victims of the recent Manchester Terror Attack.

At 7 o’clock Mr. Varadkar will arrive at the Ballina Rugby club for an Active Communities Network launch and will meet rugby legend Tommy Bowe.

Then at 8 o’clock the new Taoiseach will be in Maughan’s Bar, Crossmolina for a BBQ to complete the evening.

Vincent Duffy who is President of the lions club says the club and Ballina are delighted to be the first location in mayo to officially host the new Taoiseach.
