The two car collision occurred at approximately 4.50pm.

A 38 year old male driver of one of the cars was fatally injured, his female passenger aged 34 years was injured. Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.  There were no other occupants in that car. The male driver of the other car who is aged 33 and only occupant was also injured.

Both injured people were taken to Mayo General Hospital.

The road closed yesterday evening for an examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The road reopened overnight.
