There is a serious problem in the Ballina area for adults with intellectual disabilities securing any respite care. Due to an emergency situation that arose last March, the usual services have been seriously impacted on.
Mayo Senator Michelle Mulherin raised the matter with the Minister of State for Disability Issues, Finian McGrath this week and called for increased services to be immediately made available.

The same concerns were raised by Crossmolina based Fianna Fail councillor, a member of the HSE West Forum, with HSE West Management last month.
Senator Mulherin told Midwest News today that Minister McGrath is now very well aware of the problems in Ballina
