University Hospital Galway records the highest number of patients waiting for a bed last month in the country

The problem of overcrowding in our hospitals is getting worse.

Trolly Watch logged a record-breaking 8,154 patients waiting for beds last month.

The hospital with the highest number of patients, on trolleys, last month was Galway with 671.

Mayo university hospital had 109 patients which was a decrease on the same month last year.

Sligo University hospital also saw a decrease in their figures on the previous year however for the month of May Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe saw an increase with 87 patients waiting for beds last month.

INMO General Secretary Liam Doran says it won't get any better unless the government takes drastic action.
