West Mayo Councillors Move On From Last Month's Impasse re planning
- Details

The councillors representing West Mayo resolved their outstanding problem with council officials, in particular with the county senior planner, yesterday and the normal monthly meeting of the district took place in Belmullet.
The impasse had occurred when last month’s meeting of the district was adjourned after some councillors walked out, taking issue with the views expressed by the senior planner, who had been asked to attend the meeting as councillors in west Mayo say planning for the people they represent is a major bone of contention.
Prior to yesterday’s monthly meeting, councillors and council officials met, including the CEO of the authority Peter Hynes.
The senior planner confirmed that it was not his intention to cause any offence at last month’s meeting and it was agreed to move on – and councillors and officials will now take part in a workshop on planning.
The Cathaoirleach of West Mayo, FF councillor Brendan Mulroy told Midwest News that the planning workshop is due to take place next month (May).
