Golf superstar Rory McIlroy married his fiancée Erica Stoll at Ashford Castle yesterday in what is being described as a lavish ceremony.

The 27-year old and his US fiancée wanted the ceremony to be strictly private so tight security marked the day.

More than 200 guests attended the wedding yesterday.

Amongst those in attendance were golfers Sergio Garcia, who flew into Ireland West Airport Knock on Friday and happily signed autographs, Paul McGinley, Martin Kaymer and Shane Lowry.

Rory’s good friend Niall Horan from One Direction was also in attendance, as well as Northern Ireland actor Jamie Dornan.

Ed Sheeran is said to be attending the post-wedding celebrations today as he was caught with concert commitments yesterday.

Music was provided by Stevie Wonder last night, who was specially flown in for the event.
