Mayo Senator calls on Ulster Bank to appear before Oireachtas Committee to discuss branch closures

Ulster Bank will be requested to appear before the Oireachtas Finance Committee to discuss the impact of the proposed closure of bank branches in a number of counties – including Mayo, Galway and Sligo.

Mayo Sinn Fein Senator Rose Conway-Walsh has secured agreement from the committee members to formally request Ulster Bank to come before the committee, following the decision earlier this month to close 22 branches across the country – including Ballyhaunis.

Senator Conway-Walsh is concerned about the impact of these closures on local communities – and is also asking Ulster Bank to meet with businesses in Ballyhaunis who are concerned that the closure of the bank will impact on the footfall in the town…..
