The Garda Ombudsman has launched an investigation into the murder of Garda Anthony Golden.
A native of Ballina, Garda Golden was shot in Omeath, County Louth on 11th October 2015 by Adrian Crevan Mackin - who then took his own life.
Mackin's partner Siobhán Phillips was shot and seriously injured in the incident.
Garda Tony Golden, a married father of three young children, was responding to an incident of domestic violence when he was shot dead by Mackin – a known dissident republican, who was on bail at the time.
25-year-old Mackin had convictions in Northern Ireland for criminal damage, possessing extreme pornography and gun and ammunition possession.
A Prime Time Investigates program has alleged that Gardaí had a litany of information about Mackin and the weapons and bombs he had in the months prior to his killing of Garda Golden.
