There was a 10 per cent increase in the number of people passing through Irish airports last year, according to figures released today by the Central Statistics Office.
Almost 33 million passengers passed through Irish airports, with 85 per cent of those travelling via Dublin Airport.
Passenger numbers increased in all airports with the exception of Waterford, where there has been a loss of commercial services.
Ireland West Airport Knock saw 735,869 people passing through last year, which was a 7.5% increase on 2015.
The figures show July and August were the busiest month for Knock Airport in 2016, with over 92,000 passengers using the airport each month.
The CSO figures also show that London Stansted, London Luton and Liverpool were the three most popular routes for passengers passing through Knock Airport, followed by Gatwick and East Midlands.
