A Galway woman, whose car was so worn that the registration plate was held together by sellotape, has won over 297,000 euro on the Euromillions Draw.
Niamh O’Meara – who admits she was down to the last 24 euro in her bank account – picked up her cheque for 297,860 euro from National Lottery headquarters yesterday, after winning the Match 5 + Lucky Star prize in the Euromillions Draw on Tuesday 4th April.
Her winning quick pick ticket was bought at Supervalu in Portumna.
Niamh has played the Lottery every week since she was 18, and played the Euromillions every Tuesday and Friday.
She thinks the win is a gift from her late mother.
Niamh said the registration plate fell off the back of her car last week, and she had to sellotape it back on.
A new car was her first purchase when she realised she had won, and she’s off on holidays on Monday to celebrate.
