Mayo Civil Defence and the Fire Service withdrawn from St Patrick's Day parades across the county tomorrow as mark of respect to missing crew of Rescue 116 and to assist in search
Mayo Civil Defence and the Fire Service have been withdrawn from all St Patrick’s Day parades across the county tomorrow as a mark of respect to the missing crew of Rescue 116 and also to continue to assist in the search operation.
In a statement this evening Mayo County Council’s Assistant Chief Executive Joanne Grehan said the two bodies are being withdrawn from the parades as a mark of respect to their colleagues in the Irish Coastguard.
Mayo Civil Defence is involved in the search operation since yesterday.
10 volunteers plus the Civil Defence Officer for Mayo Rose Doherty made the journey to Blacksod yesterday morning and assisted in the coastline search.
The Civil Defence has also made their drones available to assist in the operation but wind did prevent that at present.
The drones have been used in four searches in Mayo in the past two years.
