Today is the highlight of Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s trip to the United States, when he meets later with the US President to present the traditional bowl of shamrock.
Today’s schedule begins with a breakfast at the residence of the US Vice-President Mike Pence before Enda Kenny travels to the White House for a meeting in the Oval Office.
Mr Kenny and his wife Fionnuala will then attend the speaker’s lunch on Capitol Hill with House speaker Paul Ryan and Mr Trump.
The annual shamrock ceremony and reception will take place in the afternoon in the White House, before a reception in the evening.
Meanwhile, the Taoiseach has insisted he never called Donald Trump racist - claiming that someone who uses racist language isn't necessarily a racist.
Enda Kenny was discussing his previous remarks with journalists, ahead of his meeting with the US President later today.
Last May in the Dáil, Mr Kenny referred to language used by Donald Trump on the campaign trail as "racist and dangerous".
