A Galway-based sports science company has announced a 2 million dollar investment, and plans for up to 30 new jobs.
Orreco is a sport and data science company which merges science and computer technology to help elite athletes train longer, recover faster and reduce the risk of injury.
The company was founded in 2010 by sport scientist Dr Brian Moore, and has announced today that it will be hiring more staff in Galway, and will open a new office in Los Angeles.
The company’s growing client list now includes the Dallas Mavericks, and pro golfers Henrik Stenson of Sweden and US Ryder Cup star Patrick Reed – as well as professional sports stars in Formula One, and players in the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, English Premier League and Olympic Sports.
Fitbit investor True Ventures is now investing 2 million dollars in Orreco, will help fund the company’s expansion in the US and Ireland.
