Taoiseach and Independent Alliance to meet this afternoon to discuss future of minority Govt

A meeting between the Taoiseach and Independent Alliance is to take place this afternoon on the future of the minority government.

The group has a problem voting confidence in the Dáil tonight, after Enda Kenny's performance on questions last night over the handling of the whistleblower controversy.

Yesterday's Cabinet meeting saw all sides in the minority government in agreement on proceeding with a Tribunal of Inquiry and they all signed off on a motion of confidence in the Government.

But the Independent Alliance are concerned at inconsistencies in Enda Kenny's comments in the Dáil and his contradictory statements on who knew what and when over the past week on the Sergeant Maurice McCabe controversy.

The group has met this morning, and a meeting with Taoiseach Enda Kenny has now been scheduled for later this afternoon.
