Plans to accomodate Syrian refugees in Ballaghadereen hotel to be discussed at Ministerial briefing this afternoon

Roscommon TDs and Senators will attend a briefing this afternoon in Leinster House, on plans to accommodate 80 Syrian refugees at the former Abbeyfield Hotel in Ballaghadereen.

Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald and Minister of State David Stanton are to meet with Roscommon Oireachtas members, to provide further information on the Government’s plans, after it emerged last Thursday that the former hotel in Ballaghadereen will become an Emergency Reception & Orientation Centre to accomodate people arriving in Ireland as part of the EU’s response to the migrant crisis in southern Europe and the Mediterranean.

Roscommon FG Senator Frank Feighan says he will be raising a number of local concerns at this afternoon’s meeting….
