Roscommon TD calls for Dail to be recalled, as surgery and cancer treatment being cancelled in hospitals
An elderly woman, who needs urgent surgery to prevent her being confined to a wheelchair, has had her operation cancelled three times.
That’s according to Roscommon-Galway TD Michael Fitzmaurice who says this woman is one of a number of his constituents who have had surgical procedures cancelled, while cancer patients are also having chemotherapy appointments postponed.
The Independent TD is calling on Taoiseach Enda Kenny to recall the Dail to discuss what he calls the “meltdown” in the country’s health service.
High numbers of patients on hospital trolleys have resulted in the cancellation of surgical procedures at hospitals across the country, while new figures show there are over half a million people on waiting lists.
