Minister David Stanton to brief Roscommon Oireachtas members tomorrow on plans to accomodate Syrian refugees in Ballaghadereen

Minister of State at the Department of Justice David Stanton is to meet with Roscommon Oireachtas members tomorrow (Wed) in Leinster House, to discuss the planned accommodation of Syrian refugees in the former Abbeyfield Hotel in Ballaghadereen.

Roscommon FG Senator Frank Feighan says that, while the people in Ireland and Ballaghadereen want to help families displaced by war, there has been a lack of consultation with local public representatives to establish what the Government’s plans are, and what resources will be available to adequately cater for the refugees.

Senator Feighan says language support, health services and integration are some of the issues which need to be addressed, and he will be seeking clarity in this regard at tomorrow’s meeting with Minister Stanton.
