Co Galway woman to be reunited with Brazilian husband, after his deportation order was revoked

A Co Galway woman and her Brazilian husband are to be reunited for Christmas, after the Minister for Justice revoked the Deportation Order enforced against Kleber Silva Medeiros.
He and his wife Harriet Bruce were married last December – two years after they met- and were living in Ballinasloe, but he was deported in July and sent back to Brazil on foot of unsubstantiated allegations about the validity of their marriage.
It’s understood a member of the public claimed it was a marriage of convenience.
The HSE subsequently said there was no evidence to support the objection.
A campaign has been ongoing for several months to have the Deportation Order revoked, and Galway-based Senator Trevor O’Clochartaigh arranged for Harriet Bruce and family members to visit Leinster House to make their case to TDS and Senators.
He’s welcomed the Minister’s decision now to revoke the deportation order, and says the young couple can be reunited and allow their lives to get back on track in Ballinasloe.
