Independent Cllr takes issue with President Higgins offering condolences on behalf of Irish people on the death of Fidel Castro
- Details
An Independent Councillor has condemned President Michael D Higgins for offering his condolences on the death of Fidel Castro.
Frank Durcan was speaking at the monthly meeting of Castlebar Municipal District.
The former Cuban leader passed away last month and President Higgins caused some controversy by extending his sympathies on his passing.
Cllr Durcan says President Higgins should not have extended sympathies on behalf of the Irish people but rather on his own behalf.
