Public lighting in Neiphin View estate, Foxford will be switched on by Christmas, says local councillor

The public lights at the Neiphin View housing estate in Foxford will be switched on before Christmas – that’s according to Foxford-based Councillor Neil Cruise.

A delegation of residents from the private housing estate attended yesterday’s monthly meeting of Mayo County Council to outline their concerns, after the public lighting was switched off in July –as its developers stopped paying the electricity bill.

The estate, which was built 16 years ago and comprises of up to 60 houses, has not yet been taken in charge by Mayo County Council.

Local Fine Gael Councillor Neil Cruise says there are a number of estates in Foxford not yet taken in charge by the council, and he will be bringing a motion on the matter before the December meeting of the Ballina Municipal District.

In the meantime Councillor Cruise told Teresa O’Malley that he has received confirmation this morning from Mayo County Council’s Director of Services for the Ballina area that lighting in the Neiphin View estate will be switched back on by Christmas…
