INMO says situation remains critical at ED in Galway - the country's busiest Emergency Dept today
- Details

Galway University Hospital has the country’s most overcrowded Emergency Department once again today.
The INMO says there are 38 patients waiting for admission to a bed today at the Galway hospital, while those attending the ED are waiting up to 13 or 14 hours to be seen by a doctor.
Across the country, 410 patients are awaiting admission to a hospital bed.
Yesterday, the INMO said the Emergency Department in Galway was in crisis, and extended an invitation to Taoiseach Enda Kenny to visit the unit while attending a function at NUI Galway this evening to see at first-hand the conditions being experienced by patients and staff.
The situation remains critical today, according to Anne Burke, the INMO Industrial Relations Officer in Galway.
