All secondary schools reopening this morning as ASTI suspends industrial action
- Details

All secondary schools across the country are reopening this morning, as the ASTI has suspended its industrial action.
The breakthrough came last night when the ASTI accepted an invitation from the Teachers' Conciliation Council to attend talks with the Department of Education aimed at resolving the dispute over pay and conditions.
Teachers who are members of the ASTI have suspended their strike days and will also be available for supervision and substitution duties for the duration of the discussions, which are expected to continue until the end of November.
Education Minister Richard Bruton has welcomed the decision.
