Mayo TD calls for Living Cities Initiative to be extended to towns throughout rural Ireland

A Mayo TD has called on the Government to extend the Living Cities Initiative to towns throughout rural Ireland.
The initiative gives people tax incentives to encourage them to develop and renovate areas over business premises to allow people to live over those businesses in cities.
Fianna Fail TD Dara Calleary says while it is a very welcome scheme, it needs to be extended to include towns in counties like Mayo, where there are many vacant areas over business premises.
He says the move would boost the economy of rural towns and also help with the problem of homelessness.
