TG4 celebrating its 20th birthday with special broadcast tomorrow in Galway
- Details
TG4 is celebrating its 20th birthday, and Ireland’s President Michael D Higgins will be at NUI Galway on Monday for the station’s birthday celebrations.
President Higgins played a significant role in the establishment of the Irish language station as he was Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht in the 1990’s when Teilifís na Gaeilge started – now known as TG4.
Monday’s event will see a transformation of the Quadrangle at the Galway University to a major broadcast pavilion for a live TV show, which will be aired at 9.30pm on Halloween evening.
Graduates and staff of NUI Galway have played significant roles on- and off-screen in the development and identity of Teilifís na Gaeilge (TnaG) since 1996 and TG4 since 1999.
The event will broadcast live on TG4 at 9.30 on Monday night.
