Funding of over €167,000 allocated for a number of rural recreational projects in Mayo

Funding of over €167,000 is being allocated for a number of rural recreational projects in Co Mayo.
This is part of an overall package of 3.1 million euro being announced today by the Minister of State for Regional Economic Development Michael Ring for 45 rural recreational projects across the country.
60,000 is being provided to Mayo County Council for Drumleen Loop Walk, Keenagh, to enhance the existing trail and develop a picnic and interpretative area.
An additional 12,600 euro will be provided to South West Mayo Development for maintenance works on the Western Way from Srahmore to Letterkeen.
And over 91,000 will be provided to Coillte to contribute to their maintenance and signage programme of works on the Western Way, the Bangor Trail, Brackloon Woods in Westport, Moore Hall Wood in Partry, Drummin, Raheens Wood in Castlebar, Tourmakeady Forest, Belleek Wood in Ballina and Blanemore Forest in Moygownagh.
Further developing and enhancing these walks will be hugely beneficial in encouraging both visitors and locals, says Minister Ring.
