HSE to meet public representatives on Friday over mental health services in Co Roscommon

A meeting is to be held on Friday afternoon in Roscommon to discuss plans by the HSE to close a number of psychiatric day centres in the county.

It emerged earlier this week that there are plans to close the day centres in Ballaghadereen, Boyle and Strokestown over the next 12 to 18 months.

Minister Denis Naughton told Midwest News that there’s huge confusion about the future of these services, and he called on Tony Canavan – the HSE’s Chief Officer for Community Health in the West – to meet with local Oireachtas members and members of the HSE Regional Forum to clarify their plans.

That meeting has now been fixed for this Friday in Roscommon Town.
