Full capacity protocol in place again at UHG as 35 patients wait for admission
- Details

With 35 patients waiting for admission to a bed today at University Hospital Galway, the full capacity protocol has again been implemented.
This involves identifying patients suitable for discharge to free up beds for others, and deferring a number of non-urgent surgical procedures.
Hospital management say the Emergency Department is extremely busy, and have apologised to patients awaiting admission for the delays.
They’re again advising people who are attending the Emergency Department at UHG that they can expect delays, and are urging people only to attend the Emergency Department in the case of real emergencies.
