Tillage farmers hit by bad weather urged to contact their local Teagasc office

A Roscommon TD is calling on farmers affected by the difficult harvesting conditions to contact their local Teagasc office, as information is currently being gathered on the number of farmers concerned and the financial cost to each farmer.
A number of MEPs met with farmers in Mayo, north Galway and Roscommon over the weekend to examine crops yet to be harvested in rain-soaked fields.
Yesterday evening, the IFA President Joe Healy told Midwest News that he’s calling on the Agriculture Minister to deliver on a 5-point plan to help farmers in the West who are facing te loss of tens of thousands of acres of cereals.
Teagasc is currently carrying out an assessment of those with significant fodder shortages and tillage growers with substantial weather-related crop losses.
