Saturday's bus strike still set to go ahead in Dublin - the day of All-Ireland final replay

Commuters in Dublin have been given a reprieve, after Dublin Bus strikes planned for today and tomorrow were called off - but industrial action planned for Saturday – the day of the  All-Ireland final replay between Mayo and Dublin - is still set to go ahead.

Talks between Dublin Bus bosses and union chiefs will continue today in a bid to reach a deal on pay. Workers want a 15pc pay rise over three years.

Unions deferred the two-day strike a little over three hours before buses were due to stop at 9pm last night.

But Saturday's strike, the day of the All-Ireland football final replay between Dublin and Mayo, is still set to go ahead. And 10 further days of stoppages are also scheduled, unless there is progress at talks.
