Defibrillators should be installed on all passenger trains, to assist people who may suffer a heart attack while travelling.

That's the view of Kieran Gill, Fine Gael local election candidate in the Ballina area, who's written to Irish Rail on the matter.

With the company carrying over 45 million passengers per year, Mr Gill believes defibrillators should be installed on trains, as every minute is vital in treating a heart attack.
