The environmentally sensitive area of Tourmakeady village on the shores of Lough Mask urgently requires an extension to the public sewerage scheme. That’s according to local Fianna Fail councillor Al McDonnell.

The councillor says he has been calling for an extension of the public sewer eastwards of the main village for some time now, and has called on Mayo county council to put pressure on Irish Water to deliver the same.

Lough Mask is the source of the water supply for a large part of counties Mayo and Galway, the councillor told the monthly meeting of Castlebar Municipal District and that the extension of the public sewerage scheme is of particular significance in this area.
