809,000 euro in funding for the new development has been secured from the Department of Rural and Community Development , and Minister Michael Ring will attend this afternoon’s occasion to mark the start of work on a project that is expected to be worth more than a million euro annually to the local economy.
The local community have been working closely with Sligo County Council to develop the idea, and it is expected to attract up to 50,000 cyclists annually. It’s expected that the facility will be open to the public from next Summer (2019).
