Belmullet is experiencing severe flooding today as Storm Callum continues.
The orange weather alert has been extended to 5pm this evening for counties Mayo, Galway, Sligo, Donegal and Clare.
Gardai in Belmullet say a number of roads in the Erris region which were impassable earlier have now fully reopened.
Extensive flooding occurred again at Carraholly, Westport, at the bridge in high tide this morning.
Local councillor Christy Hyland told Midwest News that the community of Carrowholly are living in fear, and for five years now Mayo county council and the OPW are still "discussing" solutions.
The high tide caused some damage at Dooagh, Achill early this morning and telephone services on the island were affected.
There is widespread disruption to electricity supply across the county today as a result of the storm.
Trees came down in various locations right across the region throughout last night and this morning.
The emergency services , gardai and Mayo County Council have been busy clearing the roads.
A tree on the rail line delayed the Ballina to Manulla train for about 15 mins earlier this morning.
