Gardaí in Cork are following a definite line of inquiry after the death of a 24-year-old man stabbed in Mallow last night.

They've made a direct appeal to find a man who was present when he was injured on Bridge Street at around half-eight.

It's believed the victim originally from Galway had been involved in an earlier row at a horse show in Buttevant.

Detectives say they're aware of the background circumstances and are assuring that any person that comes forward will be dealt with professionally in accordance with the law.
