A Senator is calling for an investigation into an apparent delay in appointing a design team for the €7.85m Medical Rehabilitation project at Roscommon Hospital.

Fine Gael Senator Frank Feighan says the tender process to select a project design team commenced in August 2017 and prospective contractors sent their tenders back on December 27th last.

He says unfortunately HSE Estates in Galway appear to have done nothing since with these tender documents.

Senator Feighan says these tenders should have been evaluated well before now, given the commitment by the HSE last year that a design team would be in place by the first quarter of this year.

The Roscommon Senator raised the matter in the Seanad yesterday and Junior Health Minister Jim Daly read a reply he received from the HSE which stated that the appointment of a design team was imminent.

Senator Feighan told Minister Daly that this brief reply from the HSE was unacceptable.
