A post-mortem examination is now underway at Mayo University Hospital on the body of a man found dead in Charlestown.
The body of the man in his 50's, believed to be a Polish national, was found in a flat on Main Street in Charlestown yesterday afternoon.
The alarm was raised by locals who were concerned as the man had not been seen in recent days.
His remains were removed last night to Mayo University Hospital where a post-mortem is being carried out by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis.
Gardai say that, at this stage, they're keeping an open mind on the circumstances of the man's death.
