An RTE television documentary will tonight shine a light on the behaviour of a number of staff at Aras Attracta in Swinford.

Prime Time Investigates will feature footage shot by an undercover reporter in 'Bungalow 3' within Aras Attracta, a facility in Swinford which accomodates adults with intellectual disabilities.

The HSE has already reacted by launching an investigation, and 9 staff members have been taken off-duty while the enquiry is underway.

The HSE says it is considering using undercover inspectors in creches and care homes, following the revelations about Aras Attracta.

Gardai and HIQA have also launched investigations.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny says he has not yet seen the programme that will be aired on RTE tonight, but is very concerned at what he has been told.

Mr Kenny says he’s acutely disappointed that this should happen anywhere, but more so that it has happened in his own county.

The Taoiseach says the activities described to him are absolutely indefensible, and he says the HSE and legal authorities will follow through fully, following the investigations currently underway.
