National awards for two Mayo food businesses at the Good Food Ireland Awards

Two Mayo food businesses won national awards last night, at the Good Food Ireland Awards – where West of Ireland food and hospitality businesses dominated the awards.

Café Rua in Castlebar was named Café of the Year , while The Foodstore in Claremorris was named Local Food Shop of the Year.

A number of national awards went to Galway food businesses last night - with the overall supreme prize going to Aniar Restaurant in Galway city, which won its first Michelin star last month.

Aniar also picked up the award for Best Newcomer of the Year in the western region.

Renvyle House Hotel in Connemara was named Culinary Haven of the Year,

Kai Café and Restaurant in Galway city won the Food Lovers Choice Award,

And the Producer of the Year Award was won by The Foods of Athenry.

Hargadon’s pub in Sligo town won the award for Food Pub of the Year.
